Recently, in light of a new immigration system within the Brexit context, it has been noticed an increased rate of discrimination against Roma. Moreover, as history shows, when racist statements come from leaders and influencers – this becomes dangerous!

The discussion ‘The Roma Holocaust – views from above’ showcases examples of leaders and influencers sharing discriminatory statements about Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities (GRT) in the UK and aims at analysing whether these statements can strengthen negative opinions and become threatening to the GRT.

Another purpose of the discussion is to find out whether the lack of awareness about the Roma Genocide can be the reason of intolerance towards GRT.

And finally, the speakers tend to seek for the most effective ways of the Roma Holocaust awareness rising within the younger generation, as a tool of eliminating racism in future.

This message is filmed for the Luton Roma Trust in light of the European Parliament’s Roma Week 2021.
